Installations

This page is dedicated to my three-dimensional works of art. The pieces you see here were specific to their outdoor location (AKA my backyard during the
pandemic) and designed to play with nature – birds, squirrels, raccoons and more. This goes way beyond that simple wooden picnic table everyone was buying. It’s a whole other level of merging art with nature.

MINI MOCA

Art doesn’t have to be large. It can come in all sizes, from all ages, and all abilities. MiniMoCA is a satellite gallery of PAC•MoCA L.I. designed to create community engagement through open and accessible art. Found in
the nearby sculpture garden, miniMoCA is a playscale sized art gallery that encourages participants to create art on a small scale.

Based on the premise of ‘Little Free Libraries’, anyone can drop off a piece of miniature art to contribute to the collection, take one home to enjoy, or even make a doll of themselves to become a “virtual visitor” via this kiosk.

Squirrel Haunted House

One summer day in 2019 I came across an old worn pink and white dollhouse set out for trash pickup on my block. It was all wood, custom made and huge. It was missing parts, but I saw something more. It had potential. It was during the summer of the pandemic in 2020 where I took the house parts, sketched out the missing add on, where my husband then built and installed it for me. I then transformed this princess castle into a creepy dark haunted house suitable for outdoor use by birds and squirrels. I used products like Flex Seal to protect against the elements and hand painted over that spray the siding, roofing and interior spaces. Green spanish moss was glued to areas where an old dilapidated home would have been overrun with vines. Acrylic paint palette of purples, blues and greens were applied to transform the house into a creepy domain. At four feet tall with many locations to hide nuts, this house stood strong and welcomed many squirrels and birds inside its large arches.

Squirrel holiday house makeover

Once Halloween had passed, it didn’t feel right to leave a haunted house out for the winter holidays. Something more festive and holiday themed seemed appropriate for the cold wet icy winter ahead. With that in mind I located a Little Tikes plastic dollhouse for sale on Facebook marketplace. I jumped on one for sale for only $20, picked it up, gave it a good cleaning and set it out to dry. Stocked with spray paint, I began the process of changing a once baby blue and light pink dollhouse into a regal holiday home of dark red siding and black roof. The windows were brightened with white and adorned with green holiday wreaths. This home has endured the elements and continues to do so at the time of this writing. Squirrels frequent the majestic front door and visit the roofline daily.
