Abstract
Wave
This is my interpretation of The Great Wave off Kanagawa, also known as The Great Wave or simply The Wave (a woodblock print by the Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai). I first painted this interpretive piece as a small 5×7… and liked it so much I recreated it much bigger!
star catchers
With only a few subject prompts of ‘nature’ in the Sayville/Bayport/Bluepoint area such as herons, oysters and flounder fish, I proposed a pair of magical herons to our local physician, who commissioned my artwork. As I painted from my inspiration image, I pushed my two canvas story to much more than what was expected. My style of raised texture and decision to add personally found crushed pearlescent shells from local beaches amplified even more magic. It was important to me that I wove nature into this two-piece commission, knowing that they would be treasured for years to come.
Annalise
A graffiti-tagged abandoned building creeps in shadow… but must yield to her captivating beauty, while sunlight witnesses Annalise’s creative expression through dance. I truly enjoyed painting this challenging, unique, impactful commission piece that I believe will be a treasure for generations on.
Blue Door
A worn blue door, covered in overgrown bright pink bougainveilla. Crumbling walls and stone pathways like these can be seen in any coastal town, and having not traveled for almost two years… I am really missing these secret gardens.
Santiago de Cuba
Painted the scene from the roof top lounge of a hotel in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. Original photo was taken in July of 2018 during my stay in Cuba.
Abstract Blue Metallic
Abstract with blues, greens and metallics. Color shifts accomplished digitally.
Ravensheart
Valentine’s Day 2020 artwork with underlying theme of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven. Torn strips of the poem surround and taunt an agitated raven perched above a blood red heart.
Ourobouros
The ouroboros is a symbol of infinity and is depicted in many cultures in history as a serpent eating its tail. Like a snake, throughout life we constantly shed our old selves and beliefs and become a new, wiser, enlightened version. This rebirth is the gift we have as humans… and I created this piece in hopes of opening others eyes to new possibilities. When it seems the darkest, be patient… eventually there will be hope and light to follow.
Nyc Night Skyline
Recreated and painted a photo from the night I took a dinner cruise on my birthday in NYC with my husband, John.
Man in the moon
Man In the Moon done in a storybook style.
Suft Casting
My husband John, surf casting at Smithspoint Beach, Long Island, NY.
Seabirds
A long dark frame with basic wording inside was redone into a white nautical frame with cute little sea birds formed with shells and ink. It now lives in my mom’s home and she loves looking at it!
